New Student Outreach

The first few days on campus are critical for new students.

Who will they connect with? What friends will they make? Will they pursue or forget Jesus?

InterVarsity’s New Student Outreach (NSO) is a time to meet and connect with students during the beginning of the year, inviting them to join an InterVarsity community on their campus.

NSO Roundtable

Gather your small group and join InterVarsity students, staff, and volunteers Saturday, April 17 from 10am – 12:30pm.

A time to connect with others involved with InterVarsity in the UP, share ideas to meet new students, and hear stories from previous years.

Every group that participates will receive funding to help make their plan happen, with additional money given to groups for the following:

  • Most compelling presentation
  • Most organized plan
  • Most evangelistic
  • Most likely to engage an unreached group on campus

April 17, 10am-12:30pm

Video Guidelines

Record a 3 minute video explaining the following questions:
  1. What school are you at? Will you be gathering new students in general, or is there a specific corner of campus you are trying to connect with during NSO (athletes, Greek students, internationals, etc.)?
  2. How are you planning to meet, invite, and connect with students that are new to InterVarsity? What event(s) will you use? How will you use the grant money?
Details:
  • Make the video 3 minutes or less
  • Submission deadline: Thursday, April 15
  • Any common video format is fine. Upload it here.
  • Grants will be given to every group that attends, with extra money given to the winners of these categories:
    • Most compelling presentation
    • Most organized plan
    • Most evangelistic
    • Most likely to engage an unreached group on campus
Video tips:
  • Record in a quiet location (a separate mic is usually better than the built-in mic on your phone)
  • Hold your phone horizontally and as still as possible
  • Make sure lighting is balanced (don’t stand in front of a window or in a dark room)
  • Be creative! Record at the site of your event; use costumes and props; edit the video to make it more fun… just make sure it communicates your plan and vision!
